Darkness is my friend tonight.

It hides my selfish tears.

It shadows all my failures...

and erases all my fears.  

I dared to think I mattered,

in a world that carries on.

At last I've learned my lesson;

now the loneliness is gone.

For I'm just one brief flicker

of a candle burning bright.

I'm just a single moment

in an everlasting night.
